Scaling Innovation in CAR-T: How Strategic Collaboration Accelerated a Global Biopharma Launch
Empowering collaboration to scale innovation, our work enabled the rapid development of life-changing CAR-T therapy, bringing hope to patients worldwide.
The Business Opportunity
A global $57B biopharma company acquired a novel CAR-T asset from a former US clinical biotech and aimed to develop and launch it across the US and Europe. Having already commercialized a first-generation CAR-T product, they were eager to apply lessons learned – scientific, logistical, and financial – by fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork, backed by the right tools and practices.
Inspired Consulting
Our team took a hands-on approach to put in place the practices and tools that simplified governance – giving clear visibility across supply chain, quality, R&D, commercial, and tech. This meant fostering both vertical and horizontal collaboration, bringing together individual contributors and senior leaders to tackle the toughest scientific, logistical, and financial challenges of developing, launching, and scaling a novel CAR-T asset. We also rolled out light-touch support for collaborative tools, so everyone had real-time access to info and could actively drive project goals forward. To keep the team connected, we focused on culture too -setting clear ways of working and team norms from the start, hosting quarterly in-person workshops and social events, and celebrating personal wins to build a culture that’s both warm and driven for excellence.
Meaningful Results
Starting with fewer than 10 people, the team exploded to over 120 (and still growing!) in under a year. Thanks to strong strategic foundations, they scaled rapidly while staying aligned on a clear vision – both strategic and tactical – and stayed agile enough to pivot as market demands evolved.
Why We Loved This Project
Advanced therapies push teams to rethink what worked for small molecules and biologics—while still keeping quality and regulatory standards rock solid. The unique patient journey calls for collaboration across groups that usually don’t work closely together. We’re proud to have helped make that collaboration happen, and truly grateful that our work supports developing treatments that bring hope to patients and their families.
