Improving Bladder Cancer Care: Simplifying Data Collection for Better Planning and Delivery
We developed a mobile tool for sales reps that standardized data capture, enhancing demand planning and supply chain efficiency, leading to more accurate financial forecasting and improved alignment with HCP needs.
The Business Opportunity
A pharmaceutical company recently introduced a key treatment for bladder cancer, which requires patients to come in for scheduled visits throughout the year and have the medication administered by a healthcare professional. To better understand demand and ensure they’re producing enough of the drug, it’s crucial to track whether orders are for new treatments or re-doses. The challenge, however, was consistently capturing that information.
Inspired Consulting
Stone collaborated with the client to get a clear picture of the current process for capturing data, as well as understanding the data access and what information was essential to make sure everything was recorded accurately. We worked closely with multiple teams from Sales Directors to Regional Sales Leads and Sales Representatives to develop a tool that integrated with the existing order system. This tool provided Reps with the data they needed, making it easier for them to capture and update the dosing information correctly.
Meaningful Results
By creating this app for the Sales team, reps can now have more meaningful conversations with HCPs, using the tool right on their phones or iPads. They can easily view the orders the HCP has placed, anticipate upcoming re-orders, and directly capture information from the HCP about those orders. This streamlined process not only helped the client improve their demand planning and supply chain but also supported better financial planning.
Why We Loved This Project
The client came to us with a problem they didn’t know how to tackle. They recognized they needed help but weren’t sure how to define the issue or where to start. There were a lot of questions around whether it was a training, data, process, or technology problem, or if it was simply something too complex to solve.
By working closely with the team and meeting with both leaders and reps on the ground, we figured out that creating a simple application – one that everyone could consistently use to capture the same data – would be the first step in gathering the information the team needed. From there, we could build on that foundation and take the next steps forward.
